New Orleans

I am so sick and tired of other people describing New Orleans and I though since I am from there I should inform all those who are not from there what New Orleans is about.

For those who has visited New Orleans and failed to see anything but bourban street this is especially for you.

Mardi Gras is the biggest free party in the world and no of it is ever on bourban street so if you didn't go anywhere but bourban street than you missed it.
Mardi Gras is Rex and Zulu on early teusday morning, Trucks parade in the afternoon, Waiting out all night for spot at Endymion, waking up early with a hang over from the night before to get a spot for bachus and see parades before that you miss because you were cathcing up sleep. Mardi Gras is ladders stacked up next to each with kids throwing pop pops at your feet, its long lines for bathrooms, its rolling of ice chest or ladders with kids and beads stacked on top. Mardi gras is running in between floats to the nearest resturant to catch a glimps of the Super Bowl because the Bachus was more important. But most of Madi Gras is about togtherness, family, and New Orleans as a community.

New Orleans is not just mardi gras though it is much more it is crawfish boils, cook outs, and fmaily gathering when there is nothing to celebrate. New Orleans is oak trees, horrible roads, and shotgun houses. New Orleans is music blaring out the open doors of bars and street preformers that are more talented than me but can't make money off of it. New Orleans is to-go cups and 24 hour bars. New Orleans is WWOZ and the french quater festival. New Orleans is resturants that look like old run down houses but have the best food in town. Natives know where the music, food, and fun are so unless friends or family showed you the real New Orleans than I'm sorry you can't tell people that you visited New Oreans. Bourban street is the most popular street name in America but natives hate it and only use it to make money off of tourist.
If you want to know what New Orleasn is really all about just ask us and we'll tell you but don't cut us off at music and food because we are people who like to talk but it may take us a little while. We love where we come from and most people will never leave the city because that is our city, family, and our heart. The city will celebrate again and dance in the street and when that day comes I will be there to celebrate with the rest of thje natives on magazine, on river road, on st. charles, on carrolton, on esplande, on elysian fields, on ferret, on carondelet, and everything else becuase that is the type of people we are. We party over anything so when there is a reason to celebrate than the party will be something you don't want to miss!

Mooncrap,
You can dream on. Houston can become something of its own, but it can NEVER be what New Orleans is. Tiger Talk knows what I mean.
