What is going on?
OK first let me say this, I know my grammer is bad, but I don't care because this is my blog. So deal with it! And I am sorry!
This may sound a little confusing because it is confusing to me. I don't understand a lot of things in this world, and I would love to have them explained to me of what is going on with each situation I come across. I read today in the newspaper that the government is trying to put lasers on airplanes to shoot down missiles. Does anyone else see how big of a mistake this is? You are turning commercial airlines into military weapons. What is next? Rifles attached to trains? Why does the government care more about politics than it does about people? Why is it so hard for someone in power to do the right thing instead of what will get his approval rating up? Why do people not say "thank you" when you hold the door open for them? Why are people uncomfortable with silence? Why are people scared of the homeless? Why are people afraid of different languages? Why do people not want immigrants to come into this country? Wake up everyone! Unless you are pure Native American, we are all immigrants. Why do people feel better when they don't know about a problem? Why do people not care? Why do some people feel helpless when they can help? Why is money more valuable than life? Why do we believe killing brings an end to a problem? Why do people try to fight violence, sex, and bigotry instead of trying to promote peace, love, and understanding? Why do people pass blame? Why do people look at the homeless and say, "why don't they get a job?" Yet they won't help them find one? Why do people always want to hear the good things about their life? Why do people lie to make people feel better? If someone is your friend why do they lie to you? Why do people love to talk about their community service? Why do people always believe their life is so tough when they know deep down it could be worse? Why are people scared of what they don't know? Why do people always want to be right? Why are people scared to stand up and speak their mind? Soldiers die everyday to not only preserve freedom but bring freedom to people who don't have it and we don't even use it! Why are people looked down upon when they voice their opinion? The way people think and believe does not make them a bad person. Just because someone feels a certain way on an issue does not mean they are a bad person. Why do people care more about reality shows than the war in Iraq? Why are so many Americans ignorant to how the government works? I am not saying they are not smart but take this as an example: A friend of my parents has a 4.0 gpa at her University in the field of child education, but when asked by me who was the secretary of Education she said I don't know. When asked what pursuits of political gain or money the education department is trying to gain with any new bills that are coming out again she said, "I don't know." Why do the majority of people in my generation when asked, "what to do when you have a problem with the government," have no idea who their Congressmen are or how to reach them? Sure the internet has made it easier to communicate with public official's, yet there is a steady decline in interaction with public figures each year with the 20 something generation. Though everytime I talk to someone in my generation they are complaining about the government. Why are there bumper stickers with the saying you can't be catholic and pro-choice? Someone should have told me there was a Catholic political party in our government, I would have joined. Public officials thought catholics represent the people of the United States of America. Last time I looked, the US was not just Catholics, but also a wide variety of religions, so a public official's vote is not his vote but the vote of the people. Why do I care so much about my generation's voice? Because my generation is getting killed overseas, so I can have the freedom to voice my opinion to the government, so it is my duty, sorry, my obligation with this freedom to make sure that what they are dying for is the right fight. One last thing. Explain this to me, after 9/11 when I was just a freshman in college that this year, 4 years later, a poll showed graduating seniors from college that applications to the Peace Corp went up 80%. Why are these same people, who are willing to give two years of their life to the government still afraid to voice their opinion openly to the government?
